Culturally Responsive Mental Health Services

ACWI is a Southwestern Ontario based organization with expertise in providing Culturally Responsive Mental Health services to children, youth, and families from diverse priority health populations.

ACWI has over 16 years of dedicated experience leading culturally responsive services in Ontario. In 2026, ACWI worked with our partners to launch Ontario’s first Black and Indigenous Youth Mental Health Practice Model piloted in the Waterloo Region.

Our network of dedicated Ontario registered psychotherapists and social workers use evidence & living-expertise informed (ELEI) modalities to address client needs. We recognize sytemic and historic barriers to services that impact mental health and wellbeing
outcomes for the clients we serve.

Our network of practioners are currently supporting children, youth and families with the following identities and living experiences:

  • African, Caribbean & Black-Identifying (ACBI) & Racialized-Identifying
  • Immigrant and Refugee Clients
  • Indigenous (through Indigenous Community Partners)

ACWI works with system partners to deliver mental health services to priority health populations. Our Ontario registered network of psychotherapy and social work clinicians have expertise in diverse modalities including culturally responsive and language responsive mental health counselling services.

  • Free Language Responsive Counselling Services for Refugee Clients available in Swahili, Shona, English, Arabic, Spanish, Kinyarwanda, French & English (translation can be arranged for languages not listed)
  • Afrocentric Counselling Services
  • Land-Based Services (Region-specific)
